Tam Tak-chi was found guilty on 11 of 14 charges against him last month, including seven counts of “uttering seditious words”, the first person to be charged with sedition in Hong Kong under a pre 1997 law used against pro-democracy protesters and supporters.
For the sixth time now, delighted to be joined by our merry band of newly arrived Hongkongers in Birmingham, some from their local church- the BCEC, out campaigning this time for our two brilliant Conservative candidates- Dominic and Connor, who are standing up for a better future in Quinton ward.
In response to various allegations regarding Christine Lee and the British Chinese Project, Alex Yip was interviewed by CARG 13th April and a summary of his interview can be found on the CARG website and below.
Alex was representing Birmingham City Council at the City’s launch of You Midlands, an initiative bringing together 11 youth organisations in uniform in the West Midlands offering young people opportunities to develop their full potential. These include Boys Brigade, Sea Cadets, Scouts, St Johns Ambulance, RAF Air Cadets, Army Cadets, Police Cadets others. The initiative has been spearheaded by the WM Lieutenancy and the Lord Lieutenant of the West Midlands Mr John Crabtree OBE with support from the West Midlands.
Confident speeches and presentations from young adults who in their manner and conduct showed the real value gained from a healthy and full participation with these youth organisations, gaining skills, qualifications, knowledge and friends making a real difference to their lives and others.
Alex was delighted to speak to a group of newly arrived Hongkongers into Birmingham at the Chinese Community Centre Birmingham as a local Councillor offering advice and support for any issues in the area.
Incredible meeting with faith leaders of many faiths across the UK supporting #UkranianRefugees into Britain. Delighted to be part of the Hong Kong Ready Churches across the UK supporting the some 100,000 HKers looking at moving to Britain taking advantage of the new BNO visa route opened by my Conservative Party and Government. More than 500 churches across the UK have responded to the call including my own in Walmley Sutton Coldfield where I am it’s representative, demonstrating clearly in actions and words our Christian values to our fellow brothers and sisters. Many are being forced to leave because their home has become unrecognisable, or worse, they are fearing or have had to deal with the consequences of a severe restriction on their freedoms and liberty. We will be working together to develop a series of Friendship Festivals across the country, as well as support efforts for the peaceful integration of so many people coming into a country that is in so many ways different, but grounded in thre same principles.
Appalling scenes at our Birmingham City Council Full Council meeting this evening where the Birmingham Labour Group repeatedly blocked efforts by the Liberal Democrats and the Conservative Group to discuss the Lib Dem’s motion calling ‘No Confidence’ in the city’s waste service.
