Lifeline for school transport firm – as Birmingham forces through controversial service shake-up

Despite the call-in victory, Labour presses ahead — and Alex keeps the scrutiny coming

After the initial block, Birmingham City Council’s Labour leadership pushed ahead with its controversial restructure of the SEND transport service. Transport firm ATG was handed a contract lifeline as part of the new arrangements. Alex continued to scrutinise the decision at every stage, arguing that the council was using a financial crisis of its own making as cover for cuts that would fall hardest on the most vulnerable children and their families. The Birmingham Mail documented the continuing saga as it unfolded.
